Council Amends Starting Age Applicable To Vaccine Mandate

Los Angeles children aged between 5 and 11 years will no longer need to show vaccination proof to access indoor environments. The Los Angeles City Council changed its recent vaccine order to make it applicable to Los Angeles citizens aged 12 years or above. This means people of all age groups are not eligible for coronavirus vaccination.

The ordinance became effective on November 09, 2021, but it will be enforceable only 20 days later as indoor business locations in LA will have to demand the vaccination documentation from patrons. The locations include indoor restaurants, gymnasiums, and cinema halls.

The locations that violate the ordinance may encounter a fine of $1,000 after their second breach and citations worth $2,000 to $5,000 thereafter from the Department of Building and Safety.

Shopping centers and malls will not be subject to the ordinance any longer as the LAC Council regarded those as the locations that would find it tricky to enforce the order.
