Suspect Accused Of Murder In Regal Theater Shooting

Regal Theater Shooting Investigation leads to person charged with murder

Following a shooting in Corona City’s Regal theater, law enforcement arrested Joseph Jimenez and charged him with murder. The shooting happened on July 26, 2021, and victims Anthony Barajas and Rylee Goodrich sustained gunshot wounds in an auditorium that showed director Everardo Valerio Gout’s latest action film.

Corona Police Department said that 18-year-old Goodrich died at the spot, whereas 19-year-old Barajas was admitted to a local hospital before he died due to his wounds.

A popular social media user, Barajas had almost 1 million TikTok followers. The Department is yet to discover a reason for the shooting, or any information that these victims and the suspect had contact before the crimes happened. That is why the Department described the shooting as an unprovoked crime. Stating that it cannot imagine how much pain the loved ones of the victims feel now, the Department expects that the arrest of the suspect would bring them some relief.

When suspect Jimenez was discovered in a Corona house, law enforcement retrieved a gun that it believes is the same one used in the recent shooting. Local law enforcement has not yet associated any gang ties with the suspect.

Jimenez was accused of a count of murder before Barajas died of his injuries but authorities stated that there might be another charge after the event. At the time of writing this, Jimenez is held on bail worth $2 million. GoFundMe fundraisers were made for Goodrich and Barajas, as both met their goals.
