Recall Election Fails; Newsom Stays As California’s Governor

In the recent recall election, a vast majority of people voted to keep Gavin Newsom as California’s governor. After the election results, Newsom took to Twitter to say that California chose progress and hope in place of bigotry and cynicism. Newsom did not forget to thank those who voted for him.

Republican Larry Elder and Democratic Party member Kevin Paffrath got more votes than the other candidates who were seeking to replace Governor Newsom. Elder called for graciousness in defeat while adding that it is just a case of losing the battle. As for Elder, there is still a chance of winning the 2022 gubernatorial election, which he described as the war.

A radio host with conservative perspectives, Elder was a more recognizable candidate than the 44 other people who competed in the state’s gubernatorial election. All of them are of the view that a return to a state of being normal has been necessary for a long time now.

Newsom campaigned with the support of senate member Bernie Sanders, President Biden and other high-profile Democrats. Biden visited the state for the first occasion as the US President to be part of a Newsom rally at Long Beach.

At the political rally, Biden stated that Elder is the nearest thing to being a Donald Trump replica that he has seen in California. Describing Elder as a Donald Trump clone, Biden rhetorically stated that it was unimaginable to see him as the governor of California. The US President also told Californians to not let it happen while reminding them that there was a lot at stake.

Newsom will now be in power up to the time of the next election for the position of the state governor.
